Loved it at first, except for Windows 8 when I first received it, but I knew the Vaio was loaded with it when I ordered it. It took a while to get the laptop updated and running the way I wanted, but I had settled into a familiarity with it when about 3 weeks into use it started putting out a strong burning odor. I shut it down for a while and restarted it later in the day. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it. It appeared to be operating alright. 2 days later after using it for a short time it would not start back up after taking a lunch break. It would try to boot up, then it would give a disk read error message and say it would attempt to fix it and that it could take a while. It never would repair itself, just showed a black screen. I don't know what happened.. Maybe I received a lemon. Amazon just sent a replacement. I'll update as time goes by.

It restarts itself quite often. A couple times it has had to recover itself. Most of the time it works just fine, but for a brand new lap top, I don't feel like it should be doing these things. I expected more out of Sony.

Would be great if it worked, June 16, 2013

Broke down within the first two weeks of owning it. Had to call tech support for half a day and completely refresh the computer erasing everything I had put on it. The dvd player occasionally stops working and the other half of the time it sounds as if its working so hard its going to over heat. Also the RAM was either not installed properly or is defective. Norton is constantly telling me I need to fix it. This computer would be a good computer if it worked.

GREAT PRODUCT February 11, 2013

I received my laptop a few days ago, and so far so great! It's a great size to carry with you without having to sacrifice the number pad, which iis definitely a plus.

What I like: It's lite and easy to carry around. The backlit keyboard is amazing and there when needed. The keys have a premium feel to them that are arguably better than any other brand. The keys are also spaced apart, but not enough to be even slightly uncomfortable. Windows 8, but I also do NOT like Windows 8. It takes getting use to, and that's why I'm neutral. Battery life is BETTER than what is listed. This laptop is one of the more stylish laptops. It can easily be set apart from other computers.

What I don't like: The touch pad. While it's a leap into next gen computers, the touch pad was not ready for this laptop. It's glitchy at times and takes getting use to, but once you figure it out then it's not a problem. Windows 8. Again, just need time to adjust but it seems like Windows 8 would make more sense on a system with touch interface. Until I get better acquainted with it, I'm using the desktop mode.

Great Computer! April 19, 2013

It's a great computer...my son loves it! The only complaint is the fact that the purchaser is forced to use Windows 8, an operating system that was designed for touch screen technology. Because this laptop is not touch screen capable, Windows 8 is more of a burden than a benefit.

Comparable to Mac April 26, 2013

This is an affordable substitute for the portability and user friendly design of macbooks. My only concern is the touchpad which I have found to be a source of much aggravation and frustration. This problem is easily overcome with the purchase of a small wireless mouse that can hide easily in my bag.

I constantly brag about the money I saved and the hardware which is perfect for run of the mill everyday use. Obviously anyone interested in gaming or massive memory storage should go for a desktop, but for casual white collars on the go, this size and price is too good to pass up.
